Cornerstone Church, 315 Webb Road, will host HOPE Mime Ministry from 9 to 11 a.m. Sunday.

HOPE Mime was established at North Carolina Central University in Durham for the sole purpose to bring college students closer to God in a form that we all know and love — mime.

During the message, Shelly Hunter and Thomas Hoke will portray both Old and New Testament stories of thanksgiving in drama.

A special Women’s Choir will share “Thanksgiving Song” during the anthem.

All are invited to bring canned goods and fresh fruit to share with Main Street Mission.

Following worship, a raffle will draw for the Rachel Sechler quilt, with all proceeds going to the new construction fund.

Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Caldwell St., will celebrate its 87th anniversary during the 10:45 a.m. service Sunday.

The speaker is the Rev. George Larry Davis, assistant pastor at Bethel “A” Missionary Baptist Church of Brevard.

Music will be provided by the Mass Choir under the direction of Thelma Banks, minister of music.

Gethsemane was organized on Nov. 28, 1926, with 35 members.

The Rev. Clary Phelps has served Gethsemane since 2005.

A service of Thanksgiving will be held during the 11 a.m. service Sunday at First United Church of Christ, 207 W. Horah St.

The children’s choir, under the direction of Lydia Price, will sing a special song of thanks, and the filled shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child will be dedicated.

Guest speaker will be the Rev. Carlin Ours, pastor of Organ Lutheran.

There will be a children’s message and a monologue Pilgrim portrayal.

Vocalists Nikki Gozzodman, Brad Burton, Christy Trexler and Judy Harwood will also perform.

Those attending are encouraged to bring non-perishable goods for Rowan Helping Ministries.

Following the service is fellowship and refreshments, with Immanuel youth serving as wait staff.

Word of Life Family Worship Center’s annual Thanksgiving Day service will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Thursday.

Dr. Starks, host pastor, will share special words of encouragement “You May Not Have What You Want to Have, But Be Thankful for What You’ve Got.” There will also be special music from the combined Gospel choir.

The Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Salisbury will celebrate the season of Thanksgiving and “thanksliving” by hosting its annual Community Thanksgiving Day Worship at 10 a.m. Thursday.

The event will take place at the Mount Zion Worship & Ministry Center, 1920 Shirley Ave.

Bishop Harvey Rice, pastor of Mount Calvary Holy Church of Salisbury, will deliver the message.

The Devotional Praise Team Ministries of Mount Calvary, Mount Zion, and other area churches will lead devotional praise.

CLEVELAND — Heart of Sportsman, a small group that meets at Cornerstone Baptist Church, will host its third annual “Take a Stand to Fight Hunger” food drive Thursday and Friday.

During the drive, hunters donate their deer harvest. The group will clean the deer and have them processed. All meat will be donated to local food pantries to feed those in need.

All those who donate will have a chance to win a Bass Pro Shops gift card.

Deer harvests can be dropped off at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 200 Clearview Drive.
