Marlene Johnson being treated for shoulder injury

According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office, Marlene Johnson remains a patient at an area medical center for treatment to the injuries she received when she intentionally climbed onto the second tier of a bunk bed and jumped backwards onto the floor. She remains under guard by law enforcement while a patient at the hospital.
The injuries are not life threatening; she is being treated for a separated shoulder and gash to the back of her head. Once released from the hospital, Johnson will most likely be returned to the Rowan County Detention Center to await trial on the charge of murder, in the death of Shirley Goodnight Pierce that occurred on July 23.
