Some things are too pretty to throw away. A Salisbury man, who wishes not to be identified, says his long deceased mother-in-law collected old Christmas cards, and after she died, he and his wife came across the cards in a box marked “to be burned.” But the couple couldn’t do it, and they kept on saving and collecting Christmas cards through the years. Above is just a sampling of their collection. The card in which Santa is unloading his bag of gifts in front of the Christmas tree is a German greeting from 1908. The red Santa Claus dates to 1909. ‘A Peaceful Christmas’ is from 1907, and the card showing kids sledding down a hill is from 1922.
