Hunt ~ Sloop

FLAT ROCK — Elisabeth Lindsay Hunt and Philip Laban Sloop, Jr. were united in marriage at five o’clock in the afternoon, Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Bonclarken Chapel. The Reverend James Avery Hunt and the Reverend William Robert Thrailkill officiated.
The bride is the daughter of the Reverend and Mrs. James Avery Hunt of Mooresville. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Roger Graham Gupton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Warren Avery Hunt. A graduate of Erskine College and the Medical University of South Carolina, she is currently employed as a speech-language pathologist with Lake Norman Communication Services.
The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Philip Laban Sloop of Mount Ulla. He is the grandson of Mrs. Mary Kathryn Sloop of Mount Ulla, the late Phil Jamison Sloop, Mrs. Kemper Meadows of Cochran, Ga., and the late Mary Ann and Joseph Walker Meadows. A graduate of North Carolina State University, he is currently employed with C&H Grain, LLC.
The bride was escorted by her father. The matron of honor was the sister of the bride, Sarah Hunt Duerk. The bridesmaids were sister-in-law of the bride Grace Patrick Hunt; sisters of the groom Virginia Sloop Johnson and Kathryn Ellen Sloop; and friend of the bride, Erica Laura Ramazzini. Flower girls were nieces of the bride Avery Alston Duerk, Anna Catherine Duerk, Elisabeth Barret Duerk and Lucy Catherine Hunt.
The best man was the father of the groom. The groomsmen were the brother of the bride James Boyce Hunt; brother-in-law of the bride Scott Andrew Duerk; brother-in-law of the groom Andrew Stuart Johnson; and cousin of the groom Daniel Luke Knox. Ushers were cousins of the groom Jack Adam Edmiston, Joseph Robert Grimsley, Jacob Lamb Knox, Joseph Walker Meadows, III and James Taylor Wimberly. Ring bearers were the bride’s nephews, Wade Avery Hunt and Elec William Hunt.
Janna Kathleen Register and Ava Caroline Williams were the program attendants. Meredith Fair Knox was the bride’s book attendant.
The scriptures were read by Haley Myers Bormann. Musicians included David Lowell, Jennings, II, organist, and Thomas James Ellis, tenor.
Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Heidelberg Hotel at Bonclarken.
After a honeymoon trip to the Grove Park Inn, the couple is living in Mount Ulla.
