KANNAPOLIS — Dr. Mark Harris, senior pastor at First Baptist Church Charlotte, will speak at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, 2204 Summit Ave., at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Harris, drafted by a grass roots group, is a candidate for the U.S. Senate representing the state of North Carolina.
He is well known in the state as pastor of First Baptist Church Charlotte, past president of the State Baptist Convention of North Carolina and key point person for the North Carolina Marriage amendment which passed with a 61 percent vote last year.
A free Christian music concert will be presented by Cantamos Choir at 7 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Family Life Center, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road.
Since their debut in l997 as a continuing musical outreach ministry for the Western North Carolina Via de Cristo, the Cantamos Choir has grown to become a 40 member choir.
Its members come from 18 churches in the Charlotte, Concord, Hickory and Statesville areas.
They have sung contemporary and traditional Christian music at churches, retirement homes, synod conventions and social gatherings. The mission of Cantamos (Spanish for “We Sing”) is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through sacred music.

MOORESVILLE, TROUTMAN, STATESVILLE — In His Steps, a non-profit dance ministry for girls, will offer free dance classes for girls in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.
The upcoming semester is underway and girls are invited to join.
In His Steps Dance offers weekly dance lessons free of charge, along with spiritual development through biblical-based devotions.
Now in their sixth year, In His Steps started as a way to reach out to girls and focuses on giving girls a safe place to learn about Christ, as well as to develop a positive self-image and share the challenges they face on a daily basis in their lives.
