A New London man has been charged with the rape of a child younger than 13.
Wayne Arland Kent, 77, of Fishcamp Road, New London, faces three counts of the rape of a child, three counts of indecent liberties with a child and three counts of crime against nature.
The Stanly County Sheriff’s office took a report on Dec. 21, 2013, about a sexual offense with a child and developed Kent as a suspect.
Kent is being held in the Stanly County Detention Center under $325,000 bond. His first court date is Feb. 3.
