The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office has apprehended a suspect wanted in a robbery in China Grove.
The suspect, Harry Alex Butler, was picked up by investigators and patrol officers with the Sheriff’s Office just before 5 p.m. today.
The arrest was made during a traffic stop of a taxi that Butler was riding in, near the intersection of Faith Road and U.S. 152. Butler was being processed and presented to a magistrate for a bond determination.
Butler was being sought after an incident Tuesday, when a white male entered Steve’s Corner Mart at 4195 Lentz Road and displayed what the clerk believed to be a gun and demanded money. The suspect fled the store after taking the money from the cash register. Butler was identified as a suspect and warrants for robbery with a dangerous weapon were obtained.
He was already wanted for a probation violation.
