This afternoon, the N.C. Department of Transportation will have mobile lane closures on I-85 North and South between Bruton Smith Boulevard (Exit 49) and N.C. 73 (Exit 55) while crews work to repaint skip lines on the $125.2 million I-85 widening project that were damaged in last week’s snowstorm. These immediate closures are necessary to make the skip lines more visible, clearly defining lane separation to motorists.
Crews plan to start repairs on I-85 North at 1:30 p.m., progressing through the construction zone to N.C. 73, continuing repairs on I-85 South. The work should be completed before 5 p.m.
NCDOT reminds motorists to watch signs for construction information, stay alert and obey the posted speed limit.
