Rowan authorities cited a China Grove man who has a history of operating illegal gambling establishments following a raid today at a Salisbury home.
Members of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Division served a search warrant at a Hader Street home where they’d received numerous complaints about ongoing gambling.
Officers seized tickets, ticket boards and $593 at the home, located in the 100 block of Hader Street. Investigators say the owner and operator of the business was Laurence Joseph Beauchamp IV, 40, of 1100 block of Red Line Road, China Grove. Beauchamp was charged via citation with operating a game of chance and possession of numbers tickets.
Beauchamp was previously arrested on May 10, 2010, after deputies searched a Hader Street home, directly across from the current location. During the time of that search, deputies seized more than $5,000, numerous tickets and ticket boards. Beauchamp pleaded guilty in that case to operating a lottery.
