The Stanly County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man from Lexington, S.C., on charges of statutory rape and other sex offenses.
A juvenile victim reported multiple indecent liberties and rape incidents to the Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 26. Deputies investigated and issued warrants for Joey Burns Harkey, 59, in Lexington, S.C. He was extradited to Stanly County on March 31.
Harkey received a $1 million bond and faces six counts of statutory rape and six counts of indecent liberties, all felonies.
