Rowan weather: Stormy day ahead

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for today and tonight for the possibility of severe thunderstorms.
A cold front moving through the area will clash with a surging warm front. A few thunderstorms may reach or approach severe levels, with the main threat being frequent cloud-to-ground lightning, small hail, brief heavy rainfall and gusty winds.
The chance of rain today is 50 percent. The high should reach 73, and it will be cloudy all day. Tonight, the chance of showers and storms drops to 30 percent, with storms tapering off after 8 p.m. The low will be around 48. Not much accumulation of rain is expected, except in heavy storms.
Saturday still promises to be sunny and warm with a high near 78 and a low of 53. Turn the temperature up to 81 for Sunday, and it should be a great weekend. The low Sunday will be around 58.
Monday brings back a slight chance of showers, especially in the afternoon, with a high near 75. The chance for showers and thunderstorms increases to 50 percent Monday night with a low around 60.
Tuesday, the chance increases to 60 percent, with mostly cloudy skies and a high near 73. The low should be around 58, with a continued 60 percent chance of rain overnight.
It looks as if the rain and storms will drag on through Wednesday and Thursday. Chance of rain and a thunderstorm or two is 60 percent Wednesday, with a high of 74 and a low around 56. The rain chance drops slightly, to 50 percent.
Thursday, more of the same, a 40 percent chance of showers and storms with partly sunny skies and a high near 72.
