Concord firefighters battle business, house fires Sunday

CONCORD — Concord firefighters had a busy Sunday, called to a restaurant fire in the morning and a house fire in the evening.
At 5:46 a.m., firefighters responded to E Noodles Restaurant at 360 Exchange St. NW, called there by a Concord police officer checking a motion alarm at the business.
Fire crews found flames and smoke coming from the restaurant. They began fighting the fire and containing it so the flames wouldn’t spread to adjoining businesses and apartments above the restaurant.
Firefighters arrived within four minutes and got the blaze under control within 12 minutes, a news release said.
Twenty-four firefighters responded, with Concord Fire assisted by Cabarrus EMS, the Kannapolis Fire Department and the Concord Police Department.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
At 5:30 p.m., the Fire Department responded to a home at 516 Riverglen Drive NW after a passing motorist reported seeing smoke and fire there.
Initial crews arrived within two minutes and found flames coming from the garage, a news release said.
Crews started measures to control the blaze and protect neighboring homes. A total of 24 firefighters brought the fire under control within 16 minutes of arrival, the news release said.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Cabarrus EMS, Harrisburg Fire and Concord Police assisted.
