Sheriff: Deputy confiscates smoking pipe from man with prior drug conviction

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged Christopher Dale Upright, 28, Friday with possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked and fictitious tag. The deputy stopped a vehicle in the 300 block of Red Leaf Lane where he confiscated a glass smoking pipe.
Upright was previously convicted in 2005 of felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and in 2003 of felony attempted larceny. He was one of three people charged following an undercover drug operation.

• Haley Brook Lefler, 18, was charged Friday with misdemeanor simple assault in the 100 block of West Liberty Street.
• Johnathan Mark Dixon, 29, was charged Friday with felony breaking and entering in the 100 block of West Liberty Street.
• Anthony Lamont Ferrens, 49, was charged Friday with misdemeanor communicating threats in the 200 block of Fourth Creek Drive, Woodleaf.
• Ahmed Xavier Blackwell, 20, was charged Friday with misdemeanor assault on a female in the 100 block of Primsrose Drive.
• Abigail Faith Sanders, 16, was charged Friday with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon in the 100 block of Primrose Drive.
• Heather Lannette Morgan, 30, was charged Friday with misdemeanor resist, delay, obstruct a public officer in the 200 block of Sylvan Road, China Grove.
• Dennis Ray Julian, 59, was charged Saturday with misdemeanor resist, delay, obstruct a public officer in the 7900 block Barncliff Court, Kannapolis.
• Timothy Ferree Clawson, 25, was charged Saturday with misdemeanor resist, delay, obstruct a public officer in the 6600 Fesperman Road, Rockwell.
• Kristin Taylor Furr, 21, and James David Bare, 23, were charged Saturday with misdemeanor simple assault in the 2200 block of Kenwood Drive, Kannapolis.
• Michael Shane Christy, 28, was charged Sunday with misdemeanor unauthorized use of motor vehicle in the 1900 block of Centenary Church Road, Mount Ulla.
• Robbie William Stewart, 56, and Cheryl Kemeys Pierre, 55, were charged Sunday with misdemeanor breaking and entering in the 800 block of Needmore Road, Woodleaf.
• Christopher Wade Brown, 27, was charged Sunday with felony financial transaction card taking and obtaining in the 100 block of McField Drive, Kannapolis.
