Salisbury Police are looking for a man who walked into a local restaurant Sunday night and walked out with the employee tip jar. The man was not found, but the owner of the Top China restaurant was able to recover $130 thanks to some passers-by who stopped to help.
The man grabbed the tip jar, which was on the front counter, and ran across the parking lot toward Food Lion. The incident occurred at 8:30 p.m.
The owner, Wei Ni, ran after the man whom he described as a “middle-aged, hefty, white male with scruffy facial hair and one lazy eye,” a police report said. Two or three other men helped Ni chase the suspect from his Faith Road restaurant. He got away behind IHOP, but Ni found the money there.
Police searched the area, but were unable to find the suspect.
