EAST SPENCER — The town board and staff have planned a meeting they hope encourages residents to ask questions about current and upcoming projects the town is implementing. The Town Hall Day meeting will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday at town hall.
Department heads will be available to talk about housing improvement opportunities, community policing and neighborhood watch programs, as well as fire service opportunities, planning for Royal Giants Park and summer activities for children.
The town is in the middle of an ongoing project to rid East Spencer of dilapidated structures and clean up the vacant properties that are in need of repairs.
The town has also begun putting in sidewalks where there had previously been none or made repairs to existing sidewalks. Beginning earlier this month, the town scheduled to have new sidewalks in place from Long to Andrews streets.
The town hopes to bring new life back to Royal Giants Park and will begin with a four-week youth summer camp starting July 7.
This is the second year the town has sponsored the camp, but town staff say the enrollment numbers are low.
They hope that by talking with residents at the meeting, they’ll encourage them to sign their children up for the camp.
Enrollment is $50 for East Spencer residents and $100 for nonresidents. The cost covers food, transportation and special activities during the camp.
The town will provide hot dogs and drinks at the conclusion of the meeting.
