Authorities say thieves took money from donation jars at a local night spot, raided the beer cooler and robbed the juke box.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a break-in at the Buccaneer Lounge, in the 400 block of Barringer Road, which occurred sometime overnight Monday, a report said.
Someone broke a front window after unsuccessfully trying to pry it open. The back door also looked as though someone tried to break into it. Officials said it appears the thieves couldn’t get in through the back door, but that was how they exited the building.
Thieves took money from a couple of donation buckets located at the bar, took money from a juke box and a game system, 14 cases of beer and 36 bottles of Bootlegger alcohol, a guitar that belonged to a regular customer and several concession items that included candy, chips, some stickers and patches.
The lounge closed, employees said, Monday around 10:40 p.m. and someone arrived shortly after 8 a.m. Tuesday to discover the break-in.
The total amount taken from the games and donation buckets was $1,100 said Capt. John Sifford.
