Salisbury Academy and WinterBloom sent 12 local students to the Broyhill Leadership Conference this week.
Held on the campus of Wingate University in Wingate, the Broyhill Leadership Conference is a five-day event for students in 10th through 12th grade focused on becoming effective leaders who will strengthen the nation and build a better world tomorrow.
“I am proud that Salisbury Academy continues the tradition of supporting future leaders in our community,” said Head of School Diane Fisher.
Salisbury Academy and WinterBloom provided scholarships this year for the following students: Hailee Buffett, Rachel Eller and Jason Troutman from East Rowan High School; Rebekah Barnhardt, Kristen Bowers, Kristen Cauble and Morgan Warren from Jesse C. Carson High School; and Ruth Clement, Dakotah Insley, Lily Jackson, Jerr Lor and Jessica Mejia from Salisbury High School.
WinterBloom also contributes need-based scholarship funds for students to attend Salisbury Academy and raised funds to support the school’s Fund-A-Need campaign, which this year will purchase an iPad classroom set and support other technology needs.
In addition, the event raised money for Rowan Vocational Opportunities, a non-profit rehabilitation facility with the purpose of providing work adjustment, vocational training and long term or transitory employment and life skills for people with disabilities.
