Time for some common sense and solutions
Recently, I had taken my seat at a luncheon to hear Congresswoman Virginia Foxx address a group of military vets. Introductions were made around my table. When one World War II vet heard my name, he said he enjoyed reading my articles and letters to the editor in the Salisbury Post. I told him I had lost interest in doing so. I had written a “My Turn” article of 700 words and submitted it for publication last November, but the Post declined to publish it. I had written about a large local business that would not allow my residential development folks to ring the Salvation Army bell near Christmas time at their business. The Post declined to publish the letter.
Since last November many folks have asked me, where are your musings in the Post? Folks at church, Wal-Mart, the YMCA, golf courses and the street. I was pleasantly surprised to know that I had such a following.
Too many people just complain in their writings. When I write I present an issue, then try to infuse common sense and suggest a solution to said issue.
I read the Post daily, watch the news on TV, and talk to a lot of informed folks. From there I chose issues that seem to be on the minds of many Rowan County folks. From those informative activities it appears that we in Rowan County have a lot of issues on our minds.
Therefore, I am back! See you in the Post.
