Police confiscated metallic knuckles and a small burnt marijuana cigarette from a teen during a license checkpoint Wednesday at the intersection of Lash and Lakewood drives.
Salisbury Police issued a citation to Dionte Dmarius Reddick, 19, of the 600 block Barringer Road, for simple possession of marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon.
Officers had received a drug complaint in the Lakewood Drive area, said Police Capt. Shelia Lingle.
When officers stopped one vehicle, they could smell the faint smell of marijuana coming from inside. The driver told authorities he didn’t have anything illegal in the vehicle and or with him. He was asked to step out of the vehicle and he gave consent to search the vehicle.
A marijuana cigarette fell out of his pocket and onto the street. Officers found metallic knuckles hidden under a front passenger seat cover.
Late last year, the teen was involved in a purse snatching, but dropped a piece of paper that the victim found. The piece of paper led officers to Reddick’s mother’s home. He initially denied the purse snatching, but later contacted law enforcement and admitted to the theft.
He was convicted of the incident in February and was currently on a year of probation.
