Two in jail after being accused of selling marijuana to an undercover officer

Two Salisbury men were charged Thursday after selling marijuana to an undercover officer while in the 200 block of North Shaver Street and Park Avenue near the SpeeDee Mart convenience store.
Salisbury Police charged Michael Eugene Daniels, 55, of the 400 block of East Council Street, with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance schedule VI; and Willie Lee Lyles Jr., 45, of the 500 block of North Long Street, with felony sell or deliver a controlled substance schedule VI.
Both men were issued a $10,000 secured bond and remain in the Rowan County Detention Center.
The Police Interdiction Team was in the area of North Shaver Street and Park Avenue around 10:30 p.m.
An officer asked a man later identified as Willie Lyles if he knew where he could buy a “dime bag” said Police Capt. Melonie Thompson.
Lyles told the officer he’d have to come back and the officer gave him two $5 bills.
Lyles went to a home on North Long Street and he and Daniels returned with the marijuana.
Daniels has been convicted of larceny, attempted robbery, assault on a female, breaking and entering, habitual felon, shoplifting, possession of stolen goods, simple assault, drunk and disorderly, driving while impaired.
Lyles, also known as “Big Shot,” has been convicted of larceny, felony breaking and entering, trespassing, resisting arrest, common law robbery, carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor indecent exposure.
