Former China Grove Middle teacher found guilty of assaulting a student

A former China Grove Middle School teacher was found guilty of hitting a student with her flip-flop.
Jennifer Lynn Rape Hancock, 42, was found guilty of misdemeanor simple assault, and was sentenced to 12 months unsupervised parole and community service.
According to the arrest report, Hancock took off her shoe and hit a student “about the back with a shoe.”
Judge Charlie Brown sentenced her to community service and 12 months unsupervised probation.
Hancock was initially hired as a teacher in the Rowan-Salisbury School System in 1996 and worked as an assistant principal from 2005 until 2011.
She was put on paid leave on Sept. 18, 2013 while the incident was under investigation. She resigned on Dec. 31.
Her trial dates were March 11, April 8, July 8 and Aug. 19.
