Mr. and Mrs. William Kim Cress of Granite Quarry are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Lauren Elizabeth Cress, to Alex Goodman Britt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Britt of Salisbury.
Lauren is the granddaughter of Mary Katherine Cress of Granite Quarry and the late Ralph Cress and Pauline Davenport of Granite Quarry and the late John Victor Blackwelder. A 2008 honor graduate and athlete at East Rowan High School, she received a degree in Exercise & Sports Science with studies in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014. She is employed by the YMCA in Lake Mary, Fla.
Alex is the grandson of the late Lloyd and Hazel Goodman of Salisbury and the late Andy and Hazel Britt of Mt. Gilead. Alex is a 2008 graduate of Salisbury High School and went on to play college baseball for the Carson-Newman Eagles. He graduated from Carson-Newman University in 2013 with a Business Degree in Marketing. Alex is employed by Keiser University in Tampa, Fla.
The couple will marry Oct. 11 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Salisbury.
