Police: Woman with history of drug conviction charged with cocaine, marijuana possession

Police charged a Salisbury woman with cocaine and marijuana possession after searching her home Tuesday morning.
Diane Marie Scruggs, 52, of the 400 block of Heilig Avenue, was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance with the intent to manufacture a schedule IV, felony possession of a controlled substance schedule IV, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, felony possession of a controlled schedule II substance and misdemeanor maintaining a dwelling/vehicle for controlled substance.
It’s not the first time Scruggs was charged with drug possession. She was charged in 2007 and convicted nearly a year later.
In 2008, Scruggs was convicted of possession of firearm by a felon, possession with intent to sell drugs, possession of a schedule II and maintaining a place for the sale of controlled substances. In 1991, Scruggs was also convicted in Stanly County of driving while impaired.
The Salisbury Police Department narcotics team served the search warrant before 9 a.m. Tuesday and found marijuana, cocaine and digital scales inside a bedroom.
Scruggs has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.
