Search for probationers leads to arrests countywide

Authorities charged more than two dozen people throughout Rowan County following a series of warrantless searches of homes in an effort to determine if a number of people on probation were living where records indicated.
The Department of Public Safety’s Parole and Probation office requested the assistance of the Salisbury Police, Rowan County Sheriff’s Office and the Kannapolis Police to conduct these searches on Thursday from 6 a.m. through 5:30 p.m.
The Salisbury Police assisted in searching 30 homes within the city limits. The searches yielded following charges:
• Kendrick Jamal Vinson, 23, of the 300 block of Laurel Pointe Circle, was charged with felony possession of a firearm by a felon, misdemeanor probation violation. He was arrested in the 300 block of South West Street.
• Desmond Dewayne Toomer, 29, of the 1000 block of Therman Street, Winston-Salem, with felony probation violation and misdemeanor failure to appear. He was arrested in the 600 block of South Ellis Street.
• Eric Lamont Miller, 25, of the 1400 block of West Horah Street, with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance schedule VI, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor failure to appear. He was arrested in the 600 block of South Ellis Street.
Police issued citations to the following:
• Michael S. Hamilton, in the 300 block of Crown Point Drive, possession of marijuana.
• Shana M. Rankin, in the 1200 block of South Main Street, possession of marijuana.
• Diatra Litaker, in the 600 block of South Ellis Street, possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Christian E. Salazar, in the 200 block of South Oakhurst Drive, possession of drug paraphernalia.
• David J. Lingard, in the 700 block of North Ellis Street, possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Bobby J. Hunter Jr., in the 500 block of North Shaver Street, possession of drug paraphernalia.
Officials confiscated several weapons and drugs — two rifles, one shotgun, one handgun, one stun gun, two matchetes, three swords, ammunition, 6.8 grams of marijuana, smoking pipes, grinders, rolling papers, digital scales.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged the following:
• Jeffrey Randall Furr charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance schedule VI (123 grams of marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a $5,000 secured bond. Officers were at the residence, in the 400 block of East Main Street, Rockwell, looking for Christopher Ritchie, 41, who no longer stayed with friends at this address.
• Brandon Moody was charged with failure to appear for possession of a firearm by felon and possession of a controlled substance schedule III (suboxone). He was issued a $31,000 secured bond. Officers were looking for Gerald Page, 41, at the residence, in the 60 block of Leewood Lane.
• Authorities discovered a meth lab at 2475 Liberty Road where there were two active meth pots (drink bottles) found on the porch of the residence. Detectives found a third non-active bottle in the trash.
No charges have been filed at this time. Officials were there to look for Tucker Smith, 18. Officials said Smith moved out of state four months ago to live with his father.
• Scott Paul Curl of the 2400 block of Woodsdale Street, Kannapolis, was charged with possession of a controlled substance schedule II (one gram of meth).
Curl overdosed and was taken from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center via Rowan EMS.
• Charles William Tallent of the 1300 block of Circle Drive, China Grove was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (a used syringe).
• Labryan Dion Hawkins or LaBryant Hawkins, 28, of the 300 block of West Miller Street, with misdemeanor assault on a female, felony possession of stolen goods, felony possession of firearm by a felony.
• Cassandra R. Boyd, 30, of the 700 block of Laurel Pointe Circle, with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver a controlled substance schedule IV, misdemeanor possession of a drug paraphernalia.
• Nicky Jon Settlemyer, 38, of the 4800 block of Sherrills Ford Road, with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance schedule VI and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
• Tyravia Akiese Angel, 22, of the 100 block of Dappler Lane, with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance schedule VI, felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver controlled substance schedule II and felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver controlled substance schedule VI.
• Deryk Donel Evans Davis, 32, of the 300 block of South Lee Street, with felony possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor probation violation.
