A Salisbury man and a woman from Eden were arrested Sunday on assault charges after a domestic altercation.
Kimberly Broadnax, 26, of Bethel Street in Eden, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon. Alexander Grubbs, 20, of the 100 block of Barrier Lane, Salisbury, was charged with assault on a female.
A sheriff deputy’s incident report stated that Broadnax had a knot on her left cheek when law enforcement arrived. Broadnax stated in the incident report that Grubbs jumped her, kicked her and hit her in the face while her 3-year-old daughter was watching. After Broadnax told Grubbs to get off, she allegedly stabbed him in the back with a pair of scissors, according to arrest reports.
Grubbs’ story was slightly different in the incident report. Grubbs said he and Broadnax had been arguing when he went outside to talk on the phone. Grubbs alleged that Broadnax grabbed him by the shirt collar and stabbed him in the back with the scissors.
The sheriff’s deputy stated in the arrest report that Grubbs had a small mark on his back that could have come from scissors, but “looked more like a small round scratch.”
The 3-year old child was taken to her grandfather’s residence following Grubbs’ and Broadnax’s arrest.
