ROCKWELL — A wreck at the intersection of Kluttz and Coley roads sent three people to the hospital around 11 a.m. Thursday.
According to witnesses, a red Honda CR-V ran a stop sign and was hit by a white utility van. The CR-V was traveling south on Coley Road, and the van was heading west on Stone Road onto Kluttz Road.
Bonnie Stone, 58, was driving the CR-V, and Thomas Choat, 64, was driving the van. Sue Choat, 62, was a passenger in the van.
Emergency personnel popped the door loose on the CR-V to free Stone and had to turn the roof of the van down using the Jaws of Life to get the Choats out of their vehicle.
All three people were transported to Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.
Authorities do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved, but Stone was cited for running a stop sign.
Rowan County Rescue, Rockwell Rural Fire, State Highway Patrol and Rowan County EMS responded to the call.
