Police seized marijuana, cash and other items from a vehicle parked illegally at a local convenience store. Three people were charged Sunday after an officer noticed the driver, who did not have a handicapped designation, pull into a handicapped parking space at Wilco-Hess.
The officer saw two people exit the vehicle while two others stayed behind. The incident occurred at 12:45 p.m. at the 500 E. Innes St. location.
Salisbury Police issued the driver, Denet Louise Bognuda, a parking ticket. Police questioned a man, later identified as LaMichael Donnell Feamster, asking his name. He told the officer “Mike” but did not provide his full name. When the officer asked Feamster where he lived, he responded “the streets” and laughed.
He was searched for an ID and the officer found a square object inside his pocket. The object was a digital scale. The officer also found 23.3 grams of marijuana, $521 and a can of Steel Reserve beer.
Feamster, 22, of the 1000 block of Second Street, Spencer, was charged with felony possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, possessing an open container of alcohol, and resist, obstruct, delay an officer. He also had two outstanding warrants for misdemeanor communicating threats, and misdemeanor assault by pointing a gun.
Feamster remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond. He was just released from prison last month after serving time for speeding to elude arrest, altering a serial number on a handgun and carrying a concealed weapon. He’s also been convicted of driving while impaired, assault on a female, larceny and unauthorized use of motor vehicle.
A report said Bognuda gave the officer consent to search her vehicle. The officer found a handgun where another passenger, Eugene William Black Jr., had been sitting.
Black, 20, of the 600 block of East Lafayette Street, was charged with misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. Black has since been released from the Rowan County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond.
