Elderly woman and son found dead at Saint Paul Church Road home

Rowan investigators are trying to determine how a 95-year-old woman and her 63-year-old son died this afternoon at a home in the eastern part of the county.
Officials have not released the identities of the victims, but said around 1:30 p.m., a 911 call was made by a meat salesman who discovered the body of a woman on the ground outside 1711 Saint Paul Church Road.
Rowan Sheriff’s investigators arrived at the home and determined the body was of an elderly woman who lived at the home.
Investigators searched the property and located the woman’s deceased son located near where she’d been found.
There is no apparent cause in either death, a statement said.
Both victims will be sent to the N.C. Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
Investigators completed a thorough crime scene search of the property, but found few, if any, clues as to what caused this tragic situation, the statement said.
Rowan officials said at present, there appears to be no known next of kin, but investigators are still trying to uncover any information about any possible relatives.
Officials said they will not release the names of the victims until they can locate relatives. The investigation continues.
