Police found two men unconscious inside a vehicle parked on the square late Saturday night, one of whom had to be seen by medical responders.
Officers responded to the 100 block of East Innes Street just before 11 p.m. because someone called about a possible intoxicated driver, a report said.
Authorities tried to wake the two men who were sitting inside a Honda, but they did not immediately respond. The men had Cook Out food trays on their laps.
Police were able to awaken Demario O’Bryan Bost, also known as Demareo Bost, 26, of the 400 block of Henderson Street, East Spencer. Police officials said Rowan EMS responded to the scene, but Denerio Robinson, 30, of Salisbury, remained unconscious.
Police tried to search Demario Bost, who they said became defiant and refused to be compliant with officers instructions.
Officers seized a 38 Special revolver from Demario Bost’s pocket. He was charged with two counts misdemeanor resist, delay, obstruct an officer, misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon and misdemeanor disorderly conduct.
Robinson was issued a citation for driving while impaired.
In September, Bost was charged with assault after he punched an X-ray technician at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center. Bost is expected in court Wednesday regarding the September incident.
Bost has been convicted of communicating threats, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, assault with a deadly weapon, assault by pointing a gun, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked and assault on a government official.
Robinson has been convicted of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
