Sheriff: Rowan County man added to most wanted list, accused of felony child abuse

UPDATE: Dustin Wilson has been arrested in Buncombe County, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office received numerous tips from the public that led to Wilson’s arrest. Information received was relayed to the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, and deputies arrested Wilson Monday morning. He is being held in the Buncombe County Jail awaiting transport back to Rowan County.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is still looking for a man who they say seriously abused his infant child who was brought into Novant Health Rowan Medical Center with injuries consistent with a physical assault.
The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division and the Rowan County Department Social Services began investigating a possible child abuse incident that was initially reported by the hospital. A two-month-old victim was injured and was being treated. Detectives have issued warrants for the child’s father, 23-year-old Dustin Aaron Wilson, for felony child abuse.
Wilson is thought to be in the Swannanoa area of western North Carolina. Dustin Wilson has been added to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Most Wanted list.
