The vehicle of a Rowan County man who has been missing since October was found Sunday in another county, but there is still no sign of the man, according to police.
Elisha Maurice Walker’s car, a silver 2000 Pontiac Sunfire, was found in Clinton, which is east of Fayetteville in Sampson County, by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office Sunday morning, according to a press release from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle was badly burned, and police were unable to verify the vehicle identification number until Monday.
“Investigators with the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office do believe that the vehicle was intentionally set on fire by someone,” the release states.
Police are searching the area where the vehicle was located for information and also determining if there are any witnesses.
Walker is a 20-year-old black male with a light brown skin complexion. He is 5-foot-8 and 120 pounds. Walker looks and dresses like a woman, and according to police lives “an alternative lifestyle of a non-heterosexual male.”
Walker’s mother told police he hasn’t been in contact with any friends or family or posted to Facebook since Oct. 23, which is uncharacteristic of him.
Anyone with information as to the location of Walker should contact Rowan County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Jason Owens at 704-216-8683, or their local law enforcement agency.
