Cress Britt Wedding

Lauren Elizabeth Cress and Alex Goodman Britt were united in marriage Oct. 11, 2014, at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Pastor Rhodes Woolly officiated the 5:00 p.m. ceremony. A reception followed at Lee Street Theatre.
The bride was escorted by her father and attended by Ms. Charlee Black of Salisbury as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids included Ms. Karley Saffer of Raleigh, Mrs. Ashley Gutowski of Sanford, Ms. Samantha Stout of Muscle Shoals, Ala., Ms. Kelsey Stout of Muscle Shoals, Ala., and Ms. Katelynne Poole of Salisbury.
Mr. Larry Britt stood as his son’s best man. Groomsmen included Mr. Robby Thigpen of St. Petersburg, Fla., Mr. Gooch Greer of Dickson, Tenn., Mr. Hayden Williams of Fort Mill, S.C., Mr. Kyle Koeneman of Seymour, Fla., and Mr. Benjamin Friend of Winter Park, Fla. Ushers included uncles of the bride Mr. Clyde “Lanny” Edgison of Safety Harbor, Fla., and Mr. Chad Barger of Granite Quarry.
Serving as flower girls were cousins of the bride Miss Emma Frazier and Miss Madelyn Frazier, both of Swansboro, and niece of the groom Miss Allison Smith of Apex.
Serving as ring bearers were nephews of the groom Mr. Jalen Smith and Mr. Jordan Smith of Salisbury.
Serving as banner bearer was cousin of the bride MGySgt. Phillip K Frazier of Swansboro, and crucifer was Matt Woolly of Salisbury.
Guest attendants were cousins of the bride Miss Grace Frazier of Swansboro, Miss Kayla Honeycutt, Miss Julia Honeycutt and Miss Raina Austin, all of Salisbury.
Ceremony music was provided by organist/pianist Mr. Rob Durocher, soloists Mr. Alex Yost and Mrs. Mallory Patterson.
The bride is the daughter of Kim and Teresa Cress of Granite Quarry, the granddaughter of Mary Katherine Cress of Granite Quarry and the late Ralph Cress, and Pauline Davenport of Granite Quarry and the late John Victor Blackwelder. A 2008 honor graduate of East Rowan High School, Lauren received a degree in Exercise & Sport Science and studies in Communications from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2014. She is employed by Delta Airlines.
The groom is the son of Larry and Jane Britt of Salisbury, the grandson of the late Lloyd and Hazel Goodman of Salisbury and the late Andy and Hazel Britt of Mt. Gilead. A 2008 graduate of Salisbury High School, Alex went on to play college baseball for the Carson-Newman Eagles. He graduated from Carson-Newman University in 2013 with a Business Degree in Marketing. Alex is employed by Keiser University in Tampa, Fla.
A bridal luncheon was held at Mimi’s cafe in Charlotte on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, hosted by the mother of the bride and Terina Barger, aunt of the bride.
A rehearsal BBQ dinner and dance was hosted by the groom’s parents, Jane and Larry Britt, at Carolina Barn Wedding and Events in Rockwell, on Friday night, Oct. 10, 2014.
The couple are making their home in Tampa, Fla.
