Livingstone hosting UNCF ‘casino night’ fundraiser Friday

Livingstone College is hosting Casino Night, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, to kick off the 2014-2015 United Negro College Fund (UNCF) Campaign for Davidson County, Randolph County, Salisbury/Rowan and Statesville, the assigned areas for the college.
Casino Night will be held at the School of Hospitality Management & Culinary Arts, 530 Jake Alexander Blvd. Cost is $55 per person, or $90 for couples.
All proceeds benefit the United Negro College Fund.
The United Negro College Fund provides its member institutions with unrestricted funds for operations, scholarships and internships in an effort to provide educational opportunities to deserving students who have the desire to attend college but lack the resources. Without the assistance of the UNCF, many students of color and those from low-to-moderate income families likely wouldn’t get the opportunity to attend college — and earn a college degree.
Organizers invite the public to an evening of fun, fundraising, music, prizes, food and games.
“You’re guaranteed to have a great time while making a solid investment toward the education of young people who are your future leaders,” organizers said in a news release. “And remember, ‘A mind is a terrible thing to waste, but a wonderful thing to invest in.’ ”
