Construction will cause lane closure on West Innes Street starting Monday
Published 5:00 am Sunday, December 7, 2014
Beginning Monday, construction work will result in one traffic lane being closed during the day on the 200 block of westbound W. Innes Street.
The outside traffic lane will be closed starting at 9 a.m. each weekday while construction crews replace the limestone steps at the entrance of St. John’s Lutheran Church. The sidewalk adjacent to the church will also be closed. The lane will reopen each day at 4 p.m.
The trailer containing the new limestone blocks will be parked in the outside lane.
Oscho Rufty, facility manager for the church, said the work will probably last through the end of the year. If crews finish their work early on any given day, then the lane will be reopened early. The timeframe to have the lane closed was set to avoid peak traffic hours, he said.
The inside lane will remain open during construction, and westbound vehicles will start merging left on the 100 block of W. Innes St.
Davie Construction Company is doing the work on the church.
