Monday’s school board meeting will have a definitive impact on the future of the Rowan-Salisbury School System. Newly elected Travis Allen and Dean Hunter join the board, which will then elect its leadership.
The board will also discuss which committees members will serve on with the new members.
Chairman, Dr. Richard Miller said that the board is expected to get an update on Heilig Road property that a landowner may donate to the school system.
The board will discuss the $135,950 estimate for roof repairs for schools and school buildings throughout the county.
They will also discuss options for broadcasting their meetings to the public, and the possibility of hiring a grant writer or contracting a grant writing service.
The board will talk about the 2014-15 school year calendar, and consider signing a resolution, asking the state for more local control of school calendars.
The board will have first and second reads on several policies, as it continues to go through the district’s policies to assure that it is in alignment with state policies.
The board will meet Monday at 5 p.m., at the RSSS office at 110 S. Long Street, East Spencer.
