Salisbury Police say a man wanted in the Nov. 20 robbery of Park Sterling Bank on West Innes Street has been caught. The man was arrested in the midst of a bank robbery in Norwood on Monday.

Authorities say it wasn’t his first heist. The Concord man also robbed a bank in Belmont, they say.

Officials charged Quinton Christopher Tennell, 45, of the 100 block of White Street, with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon. Tennell, who is also listed as Quinton Terrell, is being held under a $50,000 secured bond. He’s currently in the Stanly County Detention Center. Tennell also is under a $50,000 secured bond in each of the other robberies.

In the Salisbury robbery, the man handed the clerk a note and a white trash bag. He told the teller to put all of the money from the drawer in the bag. He implied to the teller he had a gun. He left on foot once he received the money.

Salisbury Police believe he also tried to rob the Wells Fargo on West Innes Street and Bank of America prior to walking into Park Sterling. A man matching Tennell’s description walked into the Wells Fargo and Bank of America, but left. He was wearing a thick camouflage jacket, a military-style boonie hat with a brim and sunglasses.

Norwood authorities say the same man robbed Sun Trust Bank, located 212 South Main St., Norwood, on Friday at 1:33 p.m. and demanded cash while a second suspect waited outside in a vehicle parked across the street from the bank.

According to Police Chief Chad Green, Tennell went inside the bank and told the teller he had a gun, but never showed a weapon. Tennell and his accomplice left in a Ford Astro van.

Green attempted to catch up to the van traveling in the direction of Anson County. He was not able to catch the van, but Anson County Sheriff’s deputies stopped the vehicle between Ansonville and Wadesboro, Green said in a statement.

Green was able to obtain still photos from the bank and Anson County and Norwood Police officials were able to identify the men. The second suspect was identified as Henry James Jordan, 42, of Old Charlotte Road, Concord.

Jordan is also being held under a $50,000 secured bond in the Stanly County Detention Center.

Belmont authorities say Tennell robbed a bank there and left the note at the scene. Belmont law enforcement was able to obtain a fingerprint from the note and then able to identify the suspect as Quinton Tennell.

Salisbury Police Capt. Shelia Lingle said in the Salisbury incident, Tennell handed the clerk a note, but he got the note back from her.

Tennell has previously been convicted of driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility, felony selling a schedule II controlled substance and felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
