Carrie Bell Withers Harris Hawkins will celebrate her 100th birthday on Saturday, Dec. 27. She was born in Rowan County in 1914 to M. B. and Hattie McNeely Withers, and was married to Edward Hawkins, now deceased.

Mrs. Hawkins’ two daughters are now deceased, but she enjoys her nine grandchildren and many, many great- and great-great grandchildren. She is living independently in her own home, and she still belongs to and attends Henderson Grove Baptist Church.

Her lifelong hobbies include gardening, flowers and fishing.
