Who ordered this weather for Christmas Eve?

Today will be rainy, windy, foggy and include the possibility of thunderstorms with heavy rain and cloud-to-ground lightning. Isolated flooding is also possible. The highest chance for storms is this afternoon. We may get lucky, sort of, the highest chance of gusty thunderstorms is southeast of I-85.

Although it’s 44 to start the day, we’re supposed to warm up to 63, thanks to winds from the south southwest. We may have as much as 3/4 of an inch of rainfall.

Tonight, showers and storms are likely again, and we’ll be back at 44 degrees. The wind will pick up, blowing from 9-15 mph and gusting up to 24 mph.

Travel to other parts of the country may be tough, with flight delays expected due to the weather, which is plaguing the entire East Coast.

The prediction for Christmas Day is better — sunny and 55, with wind from the west at 6-10 mph. The low drops below freezing, to 31, Christmas night.

Friday should be sunny and near 58, with winds dying down. Friday night should be partly cloudy with a low of 34.

Saturday will be partly sunny, with a high near 60, then a 30 percent chance of showers moves in Saturday night, with a low around 43.

The chance of rain goes up to 50 percent Sunday, with cloudy skies and a high near 54. We’ll keep that 50 percent chance of rain Sunday night, with a low of 45.

Monday — and who wants to think about that already — will have a 40 percent chance of showers and a high near 53. Monday night’s low will drop to 34.

Tuesday should be partly sunny and near 50.

It’s too bad we don’t have a merrier forecast for today, when a lot of people will be out doing last minute shopping or meeting with friends. Keep an umbrella handy and celebrate anyway.
