SPENCER — Demeria Robinson and Aliyah Farmer were a two-player wrecking crew for North Rowan on Friday as they combined for 50 points to propel the Cavaliers to a 59-24 win over West Davidson.
Robinson, a senior guard, outscored the Green Dragons by herself with 26 points, putting her within 23 of 1,000 career points in the process. Farmer scored 16 in a decisive second quarter and ended the game with 24, well above the junior forward’s 9.2 points per game average.
The win kept North Rowan (7-4, 2-0) unbeaten in Central Carolina Conference play. West Davidson (1-13, 0-2) dropped its eighth game in a row. The Cavalier girls now prepare to face CCC top dog East Davidson next Tuesday.
With Robinson controlling the perimeter and Farmer dominating inside, North Rowan put the game away early with a 20-2 start in the first period. Farmer then went on her scoring spree in the second period with jumpers and a string of free throws to make it 41-13 at the half.
Robinson’s 3-point bomb with 3:33 left in the third period put the margin over 40 at 56-13 and resulted in a running clock the rest of the way.
The Green Dragons made a 7-2 run to start the fourth period behind Mikayla Sink and Oliva Sharpe, but the outcome was decided long before that. Sink led the Dragons with six points and Sharpe had five.
