Salisbury resident, actor, singer, guitarist and Woodleaf Lanes owner “Blazin’ Blues Bob” Paolino has been selected to represent the  Charlotte Blues Society at the 31st International Blues Challenge to be held Jan. 20-24 in the Beale Street Historic District of Memphis, Tenn.

The IBC is a five-day music competition featuring over 250 acts from most states and more than 20 countries. Solo performers, duets and bands participate in four rounds. Artists cannot enter individually; they must first win local contests set by their affiliated regional organizations. The top acts receive cash prizes, professional services and often career-changing gigs. Each year, winners and many other competitors are “discovered” by agents and networks.

Jan. 20 is the international showcase. Jan. 21 and 22 are quarterfinal days, and Jan. 23 is the youth showcase and semifinals.  Finals are at the Orpheum Theater on Jan. 24.
