The body of a Salisbury man who was shot and killed was found Monday morning at the Lakewood Apartments off Statesville Boulevard.
The Salisbury Police Department responded to a call at the 700 building of the apartment complex in reference a man lying behind the building.
When officers arrived, they found Oscar Miguel Aguilera, 24, of the 500 building on Lakewood Drive in Salisbury deceased. It has been confirmed that he had been shot.
“They just killed him,” said Josalin Guerrero, whose cousin lived with Miguel.
She added that his family has no idea who might have shot him and that it was unclear if he was robbed.
Guerrero said Miguel worked at DJs Restaurant on West Innes Street and was probably walking home from work when he was shot.
A man, who didn’t want to give his name, first discovered Miguel’s body around 7 a.m. Monday morning when he went out on the back deck of his apartment in the 700 building to have a cigarette and saw a body lying face down.
“I figured that’s not right,” he said. “It was really cold out.”
So, he called 911.
The man said he heard popping noises during the night, but didn’t think they were gunshots.
Anyone with information regarding this matter is encouraged to call the Salisbury Police Department at 704-638-5333 or Crime Stoppers at 1-866-639-5245. These calls can be made anonymously.
