The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office charged a Salisbury man with robbing his neighbors at their Hawkinstown Road home.
The incident occurred Jan. 18, but officials say warrants were served on Demarcus Dawann Stalling on Saturday. Stalling, 28, of the 1000 block of Hawkinstown Road, was charged with two counts of felony robbery with a firearm.
A report said the two victims lived in the 900 block of Hawkinstown Road and were returning home when they were robbed. The victims pulled into their driveway, got out of the vehicle and were approached by two males wearing ski masks and all black clothing, a report said.
The suspects pointed guns at the two victims and demanded the men get on the ground. While holding the men at gunpoint, the suspects took their cell phones. The suspects also took $900 from one victim and $80 from the other.
The suspects took off running into the woods, but during the robbery one of the suspects adjusted his mask and the victims saw Demarcus Stalling.
The second suspect remains unknown, officials said.
Warrants were issued for Stalling and he was located by patrol officers with the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office. This is not the first time Stalling has been accused of robbery. He was convicted in 2012 of common law robbery. Stalling remains in the Rowan County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond.
