MOORESVILLE — Rowan authorities are investigating a theft at Lazy 5 Ranch after an employee reported four guns and a large safe containing money were stolen.
The incident was reported on Thursday morning at 8:45 a.m. by Sarah Rogers, who said everything was secured and in place at midnight. She said when she arrived on Thursday things were moved around in a common area, which is a barn.
Rogers said there was a stainless steel and black dart gun, a 20-gauge shotgun, a .22-caliber rifle and a pellet gun missing. The guns were valued at a total of $1,200, she said. The guns were inside a gun cabinet.
The safe was heavy, she said, and would’ve taken at least two or more people to carry out. The safe had casters and the thieves likely used a garden cart to roll the safe from the building, down the dirt drive and out of the exit gate. The safe was an off-white combination safe with a turn handle.
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact Investigator Rodney Mahaley at 704-216-8711 or Detective Chad Moose at 704-216-8687.
