The 2015 Spencer and Faith Jaycees awards were presented Wednesday night at the Rowan County Museum.

The winners were:

• Outstanding Teenager: Abrielle “Abby” Cozart of Jesse C. Carson High School and Caleb Joseph Johnson of  East Rowan High School.

Qualifications: Must be a high school senior, have an overall GPA of 3.0-4.0, be a N.C. resident and exemplify the well-rounded youth in scholarship, leadership and community service.

• Outstanding Young Public Servant – Suad Jakupovic – Rowan County Sheriff’s Office.

The purpose of this award is to give county recognition to correctional officers, firefighters, law enforcement officers and rescuers who, through their own resources, have achieved success and leadership in their professions and who have contributed to their community by being active in civic work.

• Outstanding Young Farmer: David F. Correll.

The purpose of this award is to foster better urban-rural relations through Jaycee farmer contacts and by creating a greater public interest in, and understanding of, today’s farmers.

Outstanding Senior Citizen: Ruby Paris.

The purpose of this is to recognize a citizen over the age of 60 and who has shown exemplary qualities of leadership during their lifetime.

Nominees were judged based on the following criteria:

• Contributions to the community (50%)
• Evidence of Leadership Ability (25%)
• Evidence of Personal Progress (25%)

• Outstanding Young Educator: Angelia Fleming – Teacher at North Rowan Middle School.

The purpose of this award is to foster better relations through Jaycee-educator contacts and by creating a great public interest in and understanding of today’s educator.

• Outstanding Young North Carolinian – Henry B. Rouse IV.

Nominees were judged based on the the following criteria:

• Contributions to the community (50%)
• Evidence of Leadership Ability (25%)
• Evidence of Personal Progress (25%)

At the state level, award winners be announced at an event today in Chapel Hill.
