Suspect flees single-vehicle accident

- Authorities were looking for a man who fled this single-vehicle accident Saturday morning on Old Mocksville Road near Polo Drive.

A male suspect was on the loose after a single-vehicle accident that occurred just before 9:20 a.m. today near the intersection of Polo Drive and Old Mocksville Road.
A witness said the African-American man who ran from the accident, involving a hunter green sport utility vehicle was wearing a red shirt.
The accident resulted in power outages over a several-mile radius of Polo Drive.
“They hit a primary line, so there are many people without power,” Ellis Fire Department Assistant Chief Chuck Wetmore said.
“From the looks of it, the driver ran off the road and lost control,” a Salisbury Police officer said. The scene is an active investigation.
Ellis Fire Department, Salisbury Police Department, and the N.C. Highway Patrol responded. There were no injuries.
