Salisbury and East Rowan were eliminated from the dual team state playoffs on Monday in regional semifinal matches.
In 2A, Salisbury lost 6-0 at Brevard. In 3A, East Rowan lost 9-0 to Marvin Ridge.

South Rowan senior Davis Richards shot 72 at Rocky River as he attempted to qualify for the Wells Fargo championship on Monday.
• The McCanless Couples played with a Captain’s Choice format. The team of David Huneycutt, Tim Earnhardt and Walt & Kim Kincaid took first place.
The teams of Bobby & Robin Leslie and Gene & Mary Seaford placed second. Gene Seaford won closest to the pin. Walt Kincaid won longest putt.
The McCanless Couples play on Sundays at 2 p.m.
College golf
Livingstone competed in the 29th PGA Minority Collegiate Championships in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Livingstone finished third among the Division II schools.
Freshman Philip Harrison led the Blue Bears with a 148 (71-77).
Spencer Cal Ripken
Spencer Cal Ripken is holding Babe Ruth baseball registration for players ages 13-15 at the 8th Street Ballpark in Spencer on Saturday, May 16.

Intimidators win
Jordan Guerrero struck out 10 batters in seven innings to lead the Kannapolis Intimidators to a 7-3 win at Lexington in a Monday matinee.
Guerrero kept the Legends off the board while lowering his ERA to 1.58, the lowest among the South Atlantic League southpaws.
Eddy Alvarez sparked the offense for Kannapolis (13-17) by driving in two runs and stealing three bases.
Parks and Rec
In the Baseball Pitch, Hit & Run competition at the Jaycee-Optimist Sports Complex, age-group all-round champions were:
Age 7-8: Parker Moody, Laurinburg,
Age 9-10: Bryce Moody, Laurinburg
Age 11-12: Mark Scott, Jamestown
Age 13-14: Spencer Lewis, High Point
Gavin Kuld, Salisbury was an age-group hitting champion. Ryan Archer, Greensboro, was an age-group co-pitching champion and hitting champion.
All champions moved on to compete in sectional competition.
Mid. school baseball
In the tournament semifinals on Monday, Mooresville won 17-2 against Erwin. West Rowan hosts Southeast in a semifinal on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Carson FB camp
Carson’s youth football camp is May 18-21.
The camp is for grades 3-8 and runs daily from 5:30-8 p.m.
Pre-registration cost is $30. Regisration when camp starts is $40.

Wrestling camp
Any middle or high school wrestler in Rowan County who would like to attend wrestling camp at Appalachian State, should contact coach Barry Justus at 704-642-2324.
The camp is July 15-18.
The camp is for (rising) grades 7-12.
The first payment of $100 must be made to East Rowan High School before May 15.
The final payment is due before July 3.
The total cost, minus any discounts. is $345.
