1. D. Lyerly shot a two-round total of 138, which was 4-under par on the Longleaf Golf and Country Club course in Southern Pines. While Lyerly was the individual state champion, his East Rowan High team came in second in the 3A championship.

2. D. Ketner has been a vocal advocate for gay equality and is a main monetary donor for Salisbury Pride’s annual festival.
