Southern Rowan won 6-2 at home against Kannapolis in American Legion action on Monday.
Burke Fulcher pitched eight innings in his American Legion debut and struck out five.
Matt Honeycutt had two hits for Southern Rowan (3-0).
Alex Rodriguez pitched six innings for Kannapolis (1-6).
Caleb Threadgill had three hits, while Christian Griffin had two for Kannapolis.
Southern Rowan was clinging to a 2-1 lead when it scored three runs in the seventh.
The teams play again on Tuesday at Kannapolis’ home field at Northwest Cabarrus High.
• Southern Rowan won 8-2 at Concord on Sunday.
Ryan Bearden had four RBIs. Chandler Corriher had two hits.
Dillon Atwell and Dylan Snider pitched well for Southern Rowan.
Southern Rowan (2-0) pulled away with a five-run seventh inning.
League games start June 1.
Intimidators
Ryan Leonards gave Kannapolis its first walk-off win of the season on Monday, chopping a base hit down the third base line in the ninth inning to score John Ziznewski from third for a 6-5 win over the Lexington Legends at CMC-NorthEast Stadium. The Intimidators (20-24) led before Lexington tied the game with a homer in the top of the ninth.
• Lefty pitcher Jordan Guerrero (6-0) — the South Atlantic League’s leader in ERA and strikeouts — has been placed on the DL.
All-SPC golf
South Rowan’s Davis Richards, N.C. State signee, was the SPC Golfer of the Year.
East Rowan’s Rhett Teems was named SPC Coach of the Year.
East Rowan’s Nick Lyerly, Logan Shuping and Bryson Sprinkle, South Rowan’s Chavis Parker and Dalton Little, and West Rowan’s Denny Triche were all-conference.
Concord’s Walker Cress and Stephen Carroll and Hickory Ridge’s Mack Sheppard and Brody Davis were All-SPC.
• In the Peggy Kirk Bell Open at the Country Club of Salisbury, Salisbury junior Grace Yatawara shot a final-round 75 on Monday and finished at 18-over 231 for three rounds.
Salisbury senior Isabella Rusher shot 78 on Monday and finished at 232, 19-over par.
Yatawara finished eighth, while Rusher placed ninth.
Winner Catherine Ashworth of Fuquay-Varina shot 72-70-71 and was at even-par 213 for the tournament. She won the event by six strokes.
• The Salisbury High Golf Tournament to benefit Hornet Athletics will be held Saturday, May 30, at Crescent Golf Club, beginning at 1 p.m. There will be longest drive, closest to the hole and longest putt contests, along with a chance to win $5,000 if a player makes a hole in one on a designated par 3.
The tournament format is Captain’s Choice with an entry fee of $50 per player or $200 per team.
Entry fee includes green fee, cart, a gift bag, and lunch.

All-SPC track
West Rowan’s Khaila Hall was Field Athlete of the Year for SPC girls track.
All-SPC performers from Rowan schools were West Rowan’s Brieanna Owens, Josie Heglar, Debrayah Turner and Brooke Sechler, East Rowan’s Jocelyn Lowe and Brittany Small, Carson’s Chloe Kirkpatrick and Sara Gunter, and South Rowan’s Dakotah Lambert.
Sprinter of the Year was Cox Mill’s Jasmine Cox, while Distance Runner of the Year was Northwest Cabarrus’ Kara Dunkle.
• In boys track, East Rowan’s Jon Fitz was named SPC Coach of the Year.
Carson’s Zachary Marchinko was the SPC’s Distance Runner of the Year, while Carson’s Brenden Westbrook was the SPC’s Field Athlete of the Year.
All-SPC performers included West Rowan’s J.T. Sanders, Celexus Long, Tagji Stout, Juwan Houston, Kevin Galliard, Javon Quarles and Joel Thomas-Morales, East Rowan’s Devaniel Dale, Josh Little, Willie McCree, Conor Hoineycutt, Lee Sharum, Tad Bowers and Max Wall, and Carson’s Tyler Mason and Nick Cox.
SPC Sprinter of the Year honors went to Concord’s Denzal Gilmore.
