The Bible Book Store closed permanently last week.

The store, located on the 300 block of South Main Street, sold Christian books, music and gifts. Reached Wednesday, owner Pam Smith said she did not have time to talk about why the store closed because she was busy moving things out.

“Really in a pinch right now,” she said.

A message posted on the store’s Facebook page June 4 says the store closed “due to circumstances beyond our control and financial difficulties. While the suddenness was not foreseen, our business environment has been challenging for a long time.”

The message goes on to thank the store’s customers and employees.

“We covet your prayers for wisdom as we seek to liquidate stock and fixtures and, most of all, pay off some significant debts,” the message says.

The store is located in space owned by Wallace Properties
