You know you’re in for blistering heat when the weather icon looks like a photo of a dessert. That’s what’s in store for Tuesday.
Today will be warm enough, with a high of 95 under sunny skies. A west northwest wind at 3-6 mph won’t help much, and tonight, the low will be just 71.
Tomorrow will be 97, with lots of son. The heat index will be up to 101. Winds will be calm until the afternoon, then a west wind of 5-7 mph will just move the heat around. Again, the low will be 71. It will be a dangerously hot day for anyone or anything that is outside. Take precautions.
Wednesday, it will be 96 degrees, with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. The chance for showers and storms lingers into Wednesday night, with a low of 72.
Thursday, too, has a 30 percent chance of showers, but also sunny skies and a high of 95. The chance for rain and storms continues Thursday night, with a muggy low of 73.
Friday, the high will be 93, again with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms and partly sunny skies. Friday night’s low will be 71, still with a 30 percent chance of showers and storms.
Saturday and Sunday’s high will be 92, still very hot, and each day will have a 30 percent chance of showers and storms. It will be mostly sunny Saturday, with a low of 70.
Sunday will be partly sunny.
The eastern half of the state is under a heat advisory today, as is the coast of South Carolina.
